Odie Rourke
Born on 9/30/1997
Departed on 9/27/2009
Odie, our beloved family dog, passed away on September 27th 2009, 3 days before his 12th birthday. Odie became a member of our family through adoption from a silent auction in November 1997 and changed our lives from that moment on. He was our baby and blessed us with his unconditional love. He was happy riding in the car, playing with his favorite toys, enjoying a good game of hide and seek or chase, and just hanging out with his mom and dad. What he liked the most was to be held in his mommy’s arms or nap on his daddy’s lap, just to be close and feel our touch. After a long day, we would look forward to getting home to be welcomed by his wagging tail and hugs and kisses filled with such happiness as if this was the best part of his day. He loved the holidays and opening presents and would ‘sing’ for birthdays or when our teams scored touchdowns. He enjoyed his visits with Jacque, his pet sitter and friend, who was very patient, loving and kind and would take him on walks to visit his friend Max.

Odie developed kidney disease 4 years ago but medication helped control it and he bounced back to have a quality life. He lost his eye sight a year ago but once again showed that he was a spirited little trooper and learned to navigate his way around to the point that many people didn’t realize he was blind. Earlier this year he struggled with seizures and again fought back with much energy and wanted to play in the last couple of months before he died. As he aged, our patience often failed us and sadly, at times we were too busy for him as there would be time tomorrow but his love for us never wavered. Now those tomorrows are filled with his empty beds and unused bowls. He was truly a little fighter but got very tired and was ready to rest. Our lives were enriched by him. We loved him dearly and miss him terribly.

He will remain forever in our hearts and we are thankful that he was our ‘little man’.

condolences

Odie was a blessing to all of us who knew him. God picked you guys out as his parents and he couldn't have picked anyone better. You three had such a great relationship! He just bloomed in your love and we know you will miss him forever, but your lives will always be better because of him and his love for you. Odie will always be special in our hearts and our memories. With love, Amy and Mark
